Need for Tablets: Most Wanted!
With so many tablets out there, you can’t help but to compare as there are many tablets that may suit your personality, your pocket and your usage.
Every now and then the tech market is being bombarded with new tablets, from Samsung to apple and the cue goes on. But then, you cannot help but wonder which one is the best out there?! Is it Apple’s iPad?, perhaps HP touch pad? Maybe Motorola Xoom or even Asus transformer! Well its different from one person to another, therefore in this article, I would like compare a little between between some of the tablets available to see which one is the most popular keeping in mind that interest does not necessarily translate into sales..
iPad 3
The iPad 3 or the new iPad, is still fresh on the market yet, it managed to impress a lot of people, with its super clear retina display and highly efficient iOS, the iPad 3 is the hype of today’s tablet market. Not only odes apple manage to top the market in sales but also, it always manages to attract a lot interest around the world as the new iPad has been enhanced tremendously from its predecessor the iPad2 which managed to be the highest selling tablet. If you are interested to know a little bit more about the iPad 3 please do check out my article about new ipad here.
Acer Iconia tab
The iconia tab is a relatively cheap tablet that is powered by 3.0 android honeycomb (upgradable). The iconia tabA500 managed to capture the geek market. Though, less fancy, this affordable tablet can perform brilliantly and does manage to satisfy your needs from a tablet. However, in terms of battery life, which is 6 hours and 55 minute, the iconia tab does not really manage to impress a lot of people and the android honey comb did not really win the people’s heart like the iOS 5, still for its price and the brushed metal finish the iconia tab is still a look-forward-to tablet.
Blackberry Playbook
The playbook managed to mostly attract blackberry fans, powered by a dual core 1GHz processor and 1GB of ram the play book sure attracted a lot of people’s interest being the first tablet produced by blackberry. Blackberry released other versions of the play book for instance the 4G, LTE and the wimax versions, which did not make much difference as it is run by blackberry OS hence the availability for apps to download or buy are strictly limited. Its 7.0 inches screen makes it highly portable but not quite impressive on the resolution side.
Asus eee pad transformer prime TF201
Despite its painfully long name, the prime manages to impress and capture the attention of a lot of tablet fans with its stunningly thin structure and its connective capabilities. It’s a powered by Nvidia tegra 3 quad core processor at 1 GHz per core, but here is the twist it is also powered by a fifth under-clocked core that runs the tablet when there isn’t much going with your tablet and the other 4 shut down hence saving battery so it would last more. There is also, a keyboard docket for it so it transforms, as the name suggests, to a mini laptop or a netbook once docked in. It comes with androids own tasty ice cream sandwich which performs really well and smooth. Truth to be told tough, not as smooth as iOS 5. Maybe it is just me!

Samsung galaxy Tab 10.1
One of the first tablets that were developed right after the iPad, which was a reason for apple to sue Samsung clamming that they copied Apple’s technologies, the galaxy tab is an impressive relatively affordable tablet that brought somewhat elegance to the android honeycomb. Powered by a dual core Nivdia Tegra 2 at 1 GHz and android honeycomb, the Samsung galaxy tab stands as the prime competitor for the iPad line. The tablet is sleek smooth and fast also finished really well.
Motorola Xoom 2
This elegantly finished tablet would be on every tablet fans’ list, the Xoom 2 managed to attract to a lot of people’s attention due its outstanding performance and fancy shape. However, that did not mean it had rocking sales, since the 10.1 inches prices can shoot as high as $700 making it is painfully expensive so people would rather go for the transformer prime which is rather remarkable or the Samsung galaxy tab.
Amazon Fire kindle
This android powered little fella, has managed to top the market for a while due its ridiculously low price ($299) making it one of the most affordable tablets ever made! Yes it does not have a quad core processor and does not have a state-of-the-art touch screen (like the iPad) yet the kindle makes it possible for everyone to have a tablet as in today’s world tablets are becoming increasingly useful and are slowly turning from a want to a need.
Sony tablet
Elegant, sleek and attractive. Sony has always been able to attract people’s attention with its out-of-the- box sort of gadgets design. It is remarkable sleek and a pleasure to hold, ignoring its 625g weight of course! As with most tablets, it is powered by android honey comb with a planned upgrade to its much better successor the ice cream sandwich and a Tegra 2 Nvidia processor.
iPad 2
The iPad 2 is still dominating the market of tablets with endless sales. The iPad 2 managed to capture a lot of tablet fans’ attention. Even though it may not suit every pocket, its sleek, propitious design and astonishing performance speaks for the tablet. It seems though, however, that it will lose out to its own successor (the new iPad) as it offers distinctive technology to give you an unbelievably startling screen performance, in addition to four times the horse power of the iPad 2.
Dell streak 10 Pro
Dell streak did not gain that much of attention, probably the reason lies between it heavy weight and heavy price tag. There is not anything special to look forward in this tablet, it is powered by the same Tegra 2 and android honeycomb yet, it does not really manage to perform as it should, given its specifications, the dell streak can do much better.
Conclusion:
Ever since the first release of the iPad, gadgets manufacturing companies have been flooding the market with new tablets, which makes it hard to decide which one is better. Of course every tablet has it special quality and a defect, for example the iPad with its crystal screen and too friendly iOS but comes with a pretty heavy price tag, or the kindle fire which is not as fast and overall its performance is too mediocre yet its price tag makes it really easy for most people to own one.
Indeed there is a variety of choices and at the end its your choice, but it is good to know that there is a tablet for every taste, if you want fancy and fast one get an iPad 3 or a sony tablet S or if you are geeky and like transformers then go for the transformer prime or the iconia tab A500.
